Nexans has been awarded the 2025 Inland Waterway Transport Award in recognition of its innovative logistics solution using barge transport to ship oversized high-voltage cable reels from its production site in Charleroi, Belgium.
The award was presented on Friday, May 23, during the annual Journée du transport fluvial et de l’intermodalité event in Namur. It was handed over by Mr. François Desquesnes, Vice President and Minister for Regional Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, and Local Authorities – and marks the first time the prize has been given to a project involving extra-large drums.
Guillaume Masse, Vice President Industry for Power Transmission, accepted the award on behalf of Nexans and addressed the audience:
“ This recognition reflects the strength of our teams and partners who dared to challenge the conventional. By integrating inland waterway transport into our logistics chain, we are reducing environmental impact while strengthening the industrial future of our Charleroi site. It’s a win for performance, sustainability, and the region. ”
