The NRC is an upstream (medium and long-term) research organization whose role is to support the global activity of Nexans, particularly in the areas of polymers and related technologies such as...
- Chemistry, material science, ceramics, polymer blend and transformation, process
- New materials and processes for cables
- Plastic Optical Fibers
NRC also provides technical support to other Nexans units, as well as Modeling/Simulation and Analytical service.
Its main missions are:
to work with the Competence Centers and Engineering Management to develop Nexans' lines of research,
- to develop new materials, processes and technologies to provide innovative concepts for new products,
- to develop products with high added value for Nexans' customers, to help reduce manufacturing costs,
- to develop strong ties with universities and take responsibility for the external research partnerships,
- to ensure the technological watch in Nexans' areas of activity,
- to detect new market opportunities,
- to train technical personnel to prepare the future of the group.
Where is the NRC located?
NRC, located in Lyon in a brand new facility opened in 2002, is operationally attached to Nexans' Corporate Technical Department. A international and pluridisciplinary team is working in the two thousand square meters (including class 1000 clean rooms) laboratory.
Lyon was the natural choice for the NRC site. Nexans has there an extensive industrial plant (the origin of the company, former headquarter of "Les Câbles de Lyon") and the city itself has a rich pool of academic resources, including a large number of research centers with which Nexans has set up partnerships.
