Paris, September 3, 2001 - Nexans, a worldwide leader in the cable industry, has been awarded a 4 million Euro contract for the supply and installation of interconnection equipment by Howin Technologies Corporation. The equipment will be deployed across the entire Taiwan territory as part of the Taiwan Fixed Network (TFN) subscriber optical network.
TFN is one of the three operators to have obtained a fixed telephony operation license following the deregulation of the Telecom market in Taiwan. TFN is a member of the Pacific Electrical Wire & Cable Co. Ltd., one of Taiwan's largest telecommunications groups. Howin Technologies is a subsidiary of TFN.
The contract covers the supply of more than 1000 Opteastar modular optical distributors equipped with patching, splicing and coiling modules, subscribers' units and splice protection units.
The first half of this equipment should be installed during the summer of 2001.
