Paris, June 14, 2004 - Nexans, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, has been chosen by International Telecom Inc. to supply the fiber optic submarine cables of the ring system (COGIM*) that will connect "La Gaspésie" with les "Îles-de-la Madeleine", in Canada.
The contract, signed by International Telecom Inc. with RICEIM for the provision of this ring system (COGIM*), includes supply and installation of transmission equipment and cables and will be an important link for provision of Internet services in the area.
Nexans will provide two cable segments plus spares for future maintenance of the system. The total quantity exceeds 450 km, and the respective segments will be supplied in continuous cable lengths of 217 and 221 km respectively. The fiber optic submarine cables for the COGIM project are manufactured at Nexans' plant in Rognan, North of the Arctic circle in Norway.
