Nexans preparing for amendment to EN 50575
European Commission has announced a delayed Date of Applicability which will affect the incoming Construction Product Regulations for cables
Paris, December 4, 2015 – The European Commission (EC) has announced an amendment to EN 50575 which will result in delayed implementation of Construction Product Regulations (CPR) for cables. Once the amendment is implemented, the Date of Applicability (DoA) will be delayed until 1 July 2016. There are no other significant practical consequences of the changes.
The procedure to amend EN 50575 has already begun. Nexans and other Europacable experts are doing their best to ensure the timely conclusion of the procedure.
From the DoA, all cables can start to be certified according to the incoming CPR for cables. The transition period of one year will now start on 1 July 2016 and end on 1 July 2017. During this period, Declaration of Performances (DoP) and CE marking can begin.
Nexans has been preparing for the incoming regulations to ensure suppliers and customers adhere to the new rules. The timing of the preparations will be modified to maintain this support.
Dario Giordani, European Product Manager Fire Safety at Nexans said, “The amendment to EN 50575 will delay the implementation of CPR for cables but Nexans is fully prepared for these changes. We will continue to support customers, suppliers and specifiers to ensure the whole supply chain adheres to the regulations.”
